Birger Sandzen studied with Anders Zorn in Sweden before moving to the United States and Lindsborg, Kansas. Sandzen captured the landscape of Kansas and the southwest in his many prints and paintings.
This mill, which probably was in Colorado or the Southwest, Sandzen captured in drypoint in 1929, using his active, frenetic line. There are virtually no straight lines in this image. The black shadows are created using the burr from the drypoint.
