Description
"La Place Déserteé" is a large etching of an abandoned "colosseum", a large fantastic architectural structure created from the artist's imagination. There are series of arched doorways and buttresses, floating boards, stairs and tied and bound elements. A world that invites exploration.
Desmazieres used only the etched line to create the range of values from black to white, no aquatint. In 1982 he reworked this plate, adding a dark sky and creating deeper shadows throughout the composition. This second printing was titled "La Place Déserteé II" and was also done in an edition of 90.
