Description
This linocut depicts a shapeshifting human, a Nahual in Morelos. Jojutla is a municipality in the state of Morelos, Mexico. Its municipal seat is the city of Jojutla de Juárez.
Santamaria notes about this work: "Ya unas vez transformados trataban de pasar desapercibidos y andaban cubiertos de sus zarapes para ocultar su animalismo, dejando entre ver solamente sus ojos en medio de sus sombreros enormes, resguardando su animalidad humana.
This roughly translates to English as: "Already transformed, they at once tried to go unnoticed and were covered with their Serapes to hide their animalism, leaving only see their eyes in the midst of their huge hats, protecting their human animality."
