A piece of Bay Area historical ephemera, this is a costume design, complete with the designer's notes and suggestions, for the character Clarice in Berkeley Repertory Theatre's 1986 production of "The Servant of Two Masters". The design covers every aspect of the character's dress, from her "high lace-up 'dance' soled shoes w/small heel" to her ringlets "synthetic ringlets. Build two sets. one for hat / one attached to loose hair bow" to her hat "Straw Hat w/curls attached ribbon hat band and neck tie."
This drawing bears the stamp of the United Scenic Artists of America, Local 829. Beneath the circular stamp is: C.D. – 409 / Costume Designer / signature……. The designer's signature follows but, unfortunately, it is illegible.
Berkeley Repertory Theater is an award-winning institution that has presented nearly 500 productions since 1968.
