Description
An early American genre scene in which two rural men in work clothes enjoy a dram directly from the barrell, relaxing among the canning jars and pots while two cats look on from the background. As this was likely done during the American Prohibition, it shows another level of camraderie in which they secretly partake in illegal imbibement. While not much is on the life and education of the Michigan-born, New York-based artist and illustrator, his subjects frequently dealt with the lives of everyday people, families, and pets.
