It took Roi Partridge two years to complete this etching of the Emmons Glacier on Mount Rainier in his native state. Emmons Glacier is on the northeast flank of Mount Rainier, in the state of Washington. At 10,000 ft and 4.3 sq mi, it has the largest surface area of any glacier in the contiguous United States. This view is from the Yakima side of the mountain.
In this composition Partridge again features his signature etching lines, hundreds of short, parallel lines at slightly different angles that create the hard facets of the rocks and the glacier.
Partridge was born in Washington before it became a state and its mountain ranges remained an inspiration to him throughout his whole career.
