Wheaton College's collection of digitized Lewis images includes several proofs in different states of this image. In some, there is just a tranquil streamside landscape; eventually, Lewis added a bear cub to the far left side in the plate. Eventually, it appears that the final state included this boy sitting on a rock, fishing, with a deer partially hidden in shadow in the upper right.
