Description
The 1930 census places Von Dieck in Los Angeles, having moved there from his Nebraska birthplace, and was employed as a representative for "art goods". Little else is known about him; however, it is clear that he had technical skill. This is a delicately rendered view of Old Mission Santa Barbara, the famed church and architectural landmark of Southern California, seen through what is likely the long branches of a eucalyptus tree.
