Description

A portfolio of images of Japanese flora and fauna, which were originally carved by the mid-Edo artist Ito Jakuchu and were reproduced by the German publisher Parus-Verlag. Accompanying the images is a list of titles and descriptions of the works, including the Latin terms of the subects depicted, in German, by Japanese-antiquities collector Martin Feddersen.

Plate titles (loosely, from Japanese to German/Latin to English) in order:

1) Kaido-Tsuri (Pirus spectabilis) -- (Chinese apple)
