Description
Max Pollak was born in Czechoslavakia and raised in Vienna. A printmaker with a long, productive career his intaglios, which included genre, land and cityscapes, and portraits from throughout Europe, the United States and Latin America.
"Weaver..." is one of Pollak's earliest prints, done around 1915 in proofs only. The viewer peers into a room which includes a large loom with a seated weaver working its mechanical elements. In the background is a spinning wheel, used to create the yarn. The major source of illumination in the room is a small window at the back wall.
