Description
Lo Hesse (1889 - 1983) was a German dancer, model, and muse of Avant Garde designer Walter Schnackenberg in Berlin and Munich in the 1910s. She was known for her extravagantly costumed performances with famed dancer Joachim von Seewitz. Hesse was often the subject of sculptor and porcelain ceramicist Constantin Solzer-Defanti, who created several figurines of the fashioniable chanteuse. In 1919 Hesse was offered a position with the Vienna State Opera, which she turned down in order to go on tour in South America.
