Description
Kitty Starling was a German American dancer who performed in London. Ludwig Hohlwein (1874-1949) created at least three highly stylized posters in 1914 featuring the dancer. One poster proclaims her to be a German American eccentric dancer and another the London Darling. Max Pollak had an affinity for dancers and they seemed willing models for the artist. This is one of three drypoint portraits of Kitty Starling in our collection of works by Max Pollak.
