Louis Eaquinta depicts a roasted turkey making off into the sunset with a mobile basket/wagon that contains the contents of a cornucopia of vegetables and fruit. A moveable Thanksgiving feast for 2020?
The image is from the portfolio The Legendary Feast by the Fort Mason Printmakers, then under the direction of Eleanor Rappe. The Fort Mason Printmakers created several themed portfolios throughout the 1970s and '80s, a project that highlighted the diversity of the San Francisco teaching facility and art press.
The Legendary Feast works with the theme of food and gathering, borrowing from history and myth to create a sense of celebration. The group of 23 artists' works is broken down into three sections, "Of Time", "Of Place", and "Of Table". "Moveable Feast" is from the second section - "Of Time."
