Axel Fridell's 1925 etching titled "Vasabron och Gram Stan" - (Vasa Bridge and the Old Town) is also titled "Gamla stan och Riddarhuset" (The old town and the Knights' House) or "Staden mellan broarna" (The city between the bridges). In the center is Storkyrkans Tower.
This impression, state one of two, was done before Fridell cut down the plate, trimming the top of the plate about a 1/4" and adding his name and date to the plate, in the lower right image. Fridell dedicated this proof impression to someone named "Haytivik Smith".
Axell Fridell channels James McNeill Whistler when etching this cityscape of Old Stockholm from the river, with the Vasa Bridge that spans the Norrstrom River - an impressionistic, atmospheric composition that leads the viewer's eye along the waterfront and the architecture city center.
