Description
From the portfolio of the same name created by Max Pollak around 1920. The portfolio included 10 etchings, half with color aquatint, illustrating the Rococco Prussian palace Sansscouci and its manicured grounds. This image was used as the frontispiece and is a view of the front of the palace as seen from across the reflecting pond. The scene has changed quite a bit, as the large trees that once flanked the grand staircase have been removed and replaced by grape vines and topiary.
