Max Pollak produced a series of small portraits of pet cats and dogs, likely belonging to close friends and often sporting fashionable accoutrements. These serve as small windows into the humorous side of a serious artist. Here, a small wire haired dog, perhaps a Yorkshire terrier, is seen from above. He looks up at the viewer with the quintessential "puppy dog eyes".
