Description
The final book of poems written by German author, poet, and lawyer Karl Steiler (1842-1885), as published by Duo Bücher in 1954 with original lithographs by Marguerite Frey-Surbek. A miniature publication with illustrations no larger than 3-3/4". Frey-Surbek was a student of Paul Klee from 1904 to 1906 and would later go on to found and operate a painting school with her husband, artist Victor Surbek. She was also a women's suffrage activist and an environmentalist, the latter of which influenced her Fauvist/Impressionist landscapes and rural town scenes, as seen in this book.
