Multi-disciplinary artist Roger Barr depicts a nude figure in motion using only ink and water in this late-career drawing, one of a series of studies created in 1995. Reminiscent of his sculpture work, this composition is made of up heavy, sturdy shapes; yet his technique belies a careful delicacy. He draws the figure in tight black lines from which he coaxes forth shadows using a wash technique. Nothing is lost in his simplified communication of form and movement.
