Description
The Church of Saint-Jean was built in the 12th century as a funeral and devotional chapel for the adjacent cemetery of L'Aigle in Normandy, France. It was designated as parish church around 1350. The church was built in the Romanesque style but it was enlarged in the 15th and 16th centuries. The Flamboyant Gothic style bell tower which is quite prominent in Arms' etching was added in 1480. The church was damaged during bombing raids in 1944.
