Description
While Florence Terry is a listed artist, very little is found on her career. It is known that she studied at the New York School and with William Merritt Chase and Robert Henri, and that she headed the art department at Ottawa Universit, Kansas in the early 1930s. There are no dates for the time she spent in San Fransisco, though it was likely between 1925 and 1930. It made its mark on her, it seems, as she's rendered a small but balanced view of the famed wharf on the San Francisco Bay, facing the newly built Coit Tower. By the time of the tower's completion in 1933 she was living in Missouri; this romantic image, perhaps, came from memory.
