Description
A small, classic Northern California landscape complete with an oak tree in the foreground and gently rolling hills beyond; a herd of cows grazes and naps under the oak's branches. Brooks was particularly interested in the landmarks, both natural and manmade, of her home state. When it came to landscapes she worked in a pastoral style reminiscent of Dutch master printmakers, capturing the sweeping expanses of relatively untouched wilderness by utilizing grand, elegant trees as a measure of their surrounds.
