Description
After the 1894 painting "The Seine at Port-Villez (Evening Effect)," a scene that Claude Monet captured in at least two oil paintings in order to capture the effect of the light at different times of day. Schwaberow focuses on just a portion of the work, the left-hand side in which a spit of land is reflected in the French river's quiet surface. True to his desire to capture the mood as closely as possible, Schwaberow successfully depicts the muted greens, roses, and lavenders of the faded evening light that Monet also strived to show.
