Clifford's Inn was an Inn of Court of Chancery, London and was a school that educated barristers. It was located between Fetter Lane and Clifford's Inn Passage, off Fleet Street. Founded in 1344 and dissolved in 1903, with its physical demolition occurring in 1934, it was both the first Inn of Chancery founded, and the last to be demolished. In its day, Clifford's Inn educated students including Edward Coke and John Selden, along with hundreds of others.
This etching by the Danish printmaker Nicolai Hammer is from the collection of Danish critic and author Georg Brochner, who wrote for the British art magazine "The Studio" in the early 20th century. Hammer, studied printmaking with William P. Robins in London during his first trip in 1924, returning to London to live for a while in 1929
