Description
Little is known about Mary Carslake, she is probably Canadian and was perhaps born in 1904. This calligraphy is an homage to Cherry Blossoms by three poets, E.A. Housmann (1859 - 1936), Donald Bain and Florence Wilkinson Evans A.E. Housman is from his 1896 poem "A Shropshire Lad", the first stanza. The second is by Doanld Bain, a homage to the cherry blossoms of Mount Fujiyama in Japan. The third poem is by Florence Wilkinson Evans from 1913 about the blossoms in Granada, from her collection "The Ride Home." From the collection of Danish critic and author Georg Bröchner, who wrote for the British art magazine "The Studio" in the early 20th century.
