Description
After a painting by noted artist David Teniers the Youngers (Flemish: 1610 - 1690), who was known for his genre paintings featuring taverns and daily life. Engraved in French, beneath image and title (loosely): "Dedicated to Monsieur Marin of The Hague and other places, Councilor of the King, Administrator of the Hospital General, Squire, Lord of Draveil, Beaumont, one of the General Farmers of S.M. By his very humble servant R. Hecquet"
Little is known about Sornique, who may have been a student of "R. Hecquet"--Robert Hecquet (1693 - 1775), a French engraver, publisher, and dealer from Abbeville.
