Auguste Lepere created a series of 5 portfolios he titled “La Guerre de 1914” (The War of 1914). The first portfolio was printed from the 18 original woodblocks in an edition of 35. The other 4 portfolios were printed by Gillotage, photographically reproduced from drawings. The war lasted from 1814 to 1918. This impression is from the first series, printed from the original blocks and signed by Lepere.e
