George William Eggers' depiction of a nude woman standing matter-of-factly with her hand on her hip, long hair falling to the side, is remarkable for its muscularity and for the strange, metallic appearance of her skin. There appears a sense of machine-age glamour, making the figure seem akin to the character Maria - or, "the Machine Man" - played by Brigette Helm in the seminal Art Deco film "Metropolis" (1927).
