Description

Like a topographical map, Bothwell’s abstract serigraph suggests the movement of a cool desert spring seen from above, wending its way between small islands of plantlife within a sea of sand. Bothwell understood layering colors to their best advantage, and in this piece achieves a shadowy effect in the liquid forms, creating depth.

As with many of her female contemporaries, her strong understanding and execution of the Abstract style flew under the larger radar of the contemporary art world; however, as seen in “Oasis,” her work is vibrant, momentous, and takes joy in exploring the dance between form and color.
