Description
Bothwell captures the universal starkness of a desert canal, cement or stone walls running straight and narrow against a bumpy, sparsely vegetated landscape, hot sky above reflected in the shallow water below. Bothewell lived at various times in Southern California, not far from the major arteries of agricultural waterways that spread through desert and city alike. She also traveled throughout Egypt and India, inspired by the landscapes she was exposed to there. This image is perhaps an amalgamation of these places and experiences.
