Description
Dorr Bothwell drew this image of the Puget Mill in Port Gamble, Washington, when she arrived in Samoa on a solo adventure in 1928, perhaps in a moment of reminiscence. Her family had lived for some time in Port Gamble before they relocated to San Diego after the death of her father in 1927. The Puget Mill was the longest running lumber mill in the U.S., operating from 1853 to 1995. Seen in the background is the Kitsap bay.
