Description
Lawrence Edward Kupferman was born March 25, 1900 in Dorchester, Massachusetts. He studied at the Boston Museum School with Philip Leslie Hale and H. Alden Ripley from 1929-1931, then at Massachusetts School of Art with Ernest L. Majors and Otis Philbrick from 1931-1935. His success in art allowed him to become a member of the Society of American Etchers, an associate at the National Academy, and at the Philadelphia Watercolor Club. He received awards from American Artists for Victory in 1942, San Francisco Art Association, and the Society of American Etchers both in 1939. Kupferman instructed at the Massachusetts Schools of Art from 1941-1970 and he later died in Boston, Massachusetts of Parkinson's disease in October 2, 1982.
