"Coast Road Farm" was the first of five prints offered by the San Francisco Chronicle on Sunday, March 17, 1940, in their second series of Contemporary Graphics on Sunday. Arthur C. Painter wrote about the artist working on the stone for "Coast Road Farm:" 'In his landscapes, Glen Wessels likes to try to find order behind the apparent disorder in pictorial terms. "Coast Road Farm" was drawing on the lithographic stone in a few hours and your can feel the spontaneity and the enjoyment the artist had in creating it. Yet before the stone was started, many drawings of the same scene were made to develop the pattern.'
