Description
Byron McClintock studied under Edward Corbett at the California School of Fine Arts (now the San Francisco Art Institute) around 1950, and was greatly influenced by the pioneering abstract expressionist's tonal, moody imagery. McClintock created this print decades later during his second foray into printmaking, after his re-discovery by New York AbEx collector Charles Dean in the 1990s. He achieves a painterly quality with his mezzotints that echoes his own oils from the 1950s.
