Description

On page 152 of the catalog raisonne Joby Patterson notes: "Due to the print's success, Norma printed additional proofs beyond the fifty she originally intended. After the fiftieth print, she changed the denominator to indicate an edition of one hundred". This impression is from that extended printing.

The image shows two Navajo riders with Ship Rock in the background. Shiprock is a monadnock rising nearly 1,583 feet above the high-desert plain of the Navajo Nation in San Juan County, New Mexico.

This work is from the estate of the collector, Roger Epperson. It was exhibited in the 2012 tribute exhibition "The Nature of Collecting. The Early 20th Century Fine Art Collection of Roger Epperson" mounted at Saint Mary's College Museum of Art.
