written in pencil by the artist on the colophon title page: "the images of man, a suite of six lithographs including the colophon title page was printed as a press inaugural suite for friends of the press, the edition consists of 25 impressions numbered and bearing the press chop. Some trial, artists and state proofs exist and are recorded by the press. All stones and zinc plates have been effaced. Connor Everts 1962 17/25"
