Celebration

Koment embraces the accidental in both watercolor and encaustic painting, acting as a shepherd of color: directing the flow, but knowing that every brush stroke or drop of poured wax contains an element self direction that must be followed to some degree. Her works therefore take on a sense of gentle spontaneity. “Celebration”’s cool color field feathers, curls, and stretches across the paper, highlighted with intentional bursts of color as if viewing the topographical map of an imagined landscape.
