The background of this piece is a simple watercolor wash in gold and gray-blue with the suggestion of a structure in the lefthand background, onto which Quant has collaged the red-striped structures that may have originally painted for part of her "St. Ives" series. As with much of her work, her intent is to have objects emerge from a formless background, which she achieves with equal effectiveness in collage as with her watercolors.
