Fred Becker did this self portrait in 1984, when he was 71 years old. It was done for inclusion in the portfolio "Face to FAce: 12 Contemporary American Artists Interpret Themselves" which was dedicated to wood engraver Lynd Ward. The portfolio was done in 1985 and was published by Penmaen Press. It included an introduction and a print by Leonard Baskin plus prints by: Coughlin, DePol, Eichenberg, Gloeckler, Grashow, Jaidinger, Martin, McCurdy, Moser, Tyler, Ward and Waters. There is another impression of this print in the collection of the British Museum.
