Hayter uses engraving, a scorper and soft-ground etching on a zinc plateto create this image, which combines automatic line and un-inked gaffrauge to produce the 3-dimensional image. This is from a state proof of the third of three states.Hayter went on to print 5 Artist's Proofs and an edition of only 25 impressions of this image.
There is an area in the upper left that appears to be a printing gaffe - a slight fold and some stray ink, everything else seems to be similar the impression in the raisonne, with stronger lines and some wiping variations.
