Description
Morels resemble a honeycomb due to the network of ridges and pits on their caps. The caps vary in color from pale yellow to black and long-neck morels have an elongated stem. These fungi are prized by gourmet cooks as they have an earthy flavor that's nutty and woodsy. Care should be taken as the species Gyromitra esculenta is a false morel with a brain-like texture that can be quite poisonous.
