Description
This color woodcut is heavily inked using a mixture of watercolor and gofun (a white pigment made from shells to create opacity), which are printed several times to make them more vivid. The white and yellow inks in this composition feature a glossy finish, which sit on top of the paper and give it a dimensionality that resembles a screenprint. The paper has been trimmed at the top and sides to the image while leaving the bottom margin intact. It's unclear if this was done by the artist.
