When asked to comment on his imagery, Fletcher stated: “The wing image came to me as an Icarus, hopes one has for the future generations. The state of this country worries me, time is passing and we are losing something. We have such great minds that are not being used. The wing is a hope and a prayer, wishful thinking that we can get back on course and take flight; that young people of this country will be encouraged to make their marks, begin their businesses, launch the next IPOs. A single wing will not get you anywhere—it’s a project derailed. I also hail from Ohio which is the birthplace of aviation. I had an uncle who built an airplane in his garage in Kentucky but the garage was so small that he couldn't put the tips on the wings and he knew he would never afford the cost of the engine but he worked on and he still had hope.”
