Description
An edition of 100 numbered impressions of this image, under the title "Impact", were printed for the New Jersey private college Upsala in the early 1960s. Upsala College, which closed its doors in 1995, was a liberal arts school founded in 1893.
It's not clear which came first, the school poster or the stand-alone image, but the composition is nevertheless an exemplary Abstract Expressionist piece from mid0century America.
