Alexander (also spelled Oleksandr) Gubarev was known for his imagery of the Ukraine, his homeland. This collection of linocut reproductions created in the early 1960s was published in 1968, in honor of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Komsomol, the all-union Leninist Young Communist League.
