An artist's proof from outside of the published edition of 10 color intaglios, which accompanied the poem "L'Archangelique," written in 1942 by philosopher and intellectual Georges Bataille (1897 - 1962). It was republished posthumously by Nouveau Cercle Parisian du Livre (Paris) in 1967.

This impression of Herold's Surrealist flora is a proof exhibiting some loss of color in the dark blue and red inks, likely during the printing process. The condition is reflected in the price.
