Description
Robert Cormack depicts a burlesque dancer against the backdrop of a county fair, complete with rides and a circus tent. "Coochie" refers to "Hoochie Coochie", a catch-all term given to performers who immitate the traditional Egyptian dance known as Raqs Baladi, known in the West as a belly dance. Cormack uses bold colors and shapes to evoke the glitz of a fair at night, with the scantily clad dancer and axe- and sword-wielding performers in the background lending an air of seediness to the overall effect.
