Description
According to Richard Miles, this print, a gift intended for the artist's mother on her birthday, was being distributed at the time of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Jacoulet's mother died before she could see the work, and Jacoulet never reprinted it in its full size despite its immediate success. The model is reputed to be the man who trained young Jacoulet in calligraphy.
The English tranlation for this print is "The Nest, Korea". Jacoulet would also produce a set miniature versions of this print, known as "surimono", to send as Christmas cards.
