Description
The magnolia stellata, or star magnolia, is native to Japan and is name for its layered rings of petals, up to thirty at a time, creating a bursting star shape.
Richard Wagener grew up in southern California, spending time with his grandfather in remote parts of the desert and up in the Sierra mountain range. Of note in regards to his woodengraving technique is his exclusive use of single-line as opposed to multiple-line carving tools, meaning that each line is carved individually.
