Landeck captures an unusual architectural detail between buildings in "Alleyway". The viewer looks beyond a wrought iron gate into a narrow alley featuring a checkboard walkway. An intricate cross section of walls, windows, overhangs, and fire escapes pause at the walkway's edge; all is shrouded in the permanent twilight of a city made of skyscrapers, and in this narrow space Landeck illustrates a moment of solitary quietude.
