Description
The town of Minakuchi was established in 1889 during the Edo period to serve as a post town along the Tokaido Road. In 2004 it was absorbed, along with four other towns, by the Koka District to form the city of Koka. Here, Walter Padgett combines two types of traditional Japanese architecture - one structure with a tiled roof and family crest at its peak, the other thatched - that he has connected with signs of modern times: an antenna and telephone cables.
